Meratus Mountain lies from southern to the northern of South Borneo with the highest peak is on Mount Besar, the area is covered by lush tropical rainforest, rivers, mossy stones, and tremendous waterfall. The range is inhabited by the Bukit Dayak ethnic, most of them are still maintaining the ancestor belief and tradition, such as; nomadic farming, animals hunting, and ritual ceremonies as part of their lives. They are living on longhouses as the center of ritual ceremonies and community. The longhouse here is rather different with other longhouse in all places of Borneo; it is a rectangle building where sleeping rooms all over the building surrounding the communal veranda in the middle.


Tour Itenary :

Day 01  Day 01: ARRIVAL IN BANJARMASIN
Meet at airport and directly transfer to hotel for check in. Next, exploring Banjarese river civilization by taking an afternoon canal sightseeing. Afterwards, return to hotel for overnight. Free at own leisure. (D)
Day 02  Day 02: BANJARMASIN – MERATUS MOUNTAIN
We will leave to floating market in early morning to explore the unique culture of Banjarese who trade their commodities from boat to boat and return to hotel crossing Banjarmasin River while sightseeing people unique activities at riverside. Next, transfer to Kiyo village for short sightseeing. Afterwards, we will be trekking into Meratus Mountain crossing hills, forest, shifting cultivation, etc. Lunch will be served en route, dinner and overnight on bivouac/tent. (B,L,D)
Day 03  Day 03: DATAR ALAI – JUMANTIR
After breakfast, we will be trekking to Sungai Karuh waterfall while exploring vegetation and animals on our trail. Next, we will be trekking uphill to Jumantir crossing dense primary forest. Lunch will be served en route, dinner and overnight on bivouac/tent at riverside. (B,L,D)
Day 04  Day 04: JUMANTIR – MOUNT BESAR PEAK
After breakfast, we will be trekking uphill through mossy trees and orchids to reach the peak of mount Besar, the roof of South Borneo. Lunch will be served en route, dinner and overnight on bivouac/tent at riverside. (B,L,D)
Day 05  Day 05: MOUNT BESAR – KATUAN
After packing up our stuff, we will trek down the peak to Katuan for setting our campsite. In the night, we will learn from the Dayak man how to set animal trap. Lunch will be served en route, dinner and overnight on bivouac/tent. (B,L,D)
Day 06  Day 06: KATUAN – HARATAI
Proceed to Haratai crossing primary rainforest, beautiful valley, hills, longhouses, and shifting cultivation. Lunch will be served en route, dinner and overnight on longhouse. (B,L,D)
Day 07  Day 07: HARATAI TIGA – BAMBOO RAFTING – BANJARMASIN
After breakfast, we will be trekking down to Loksado for about two hours. Next, we will take an adventure trip of bamboo rafting crossing beautiful landscape of tropical rainforest along the riverside meanwhile our coach will be waiting on the downstream for driving to Banjarmasin for overnight on hotel. (B,L,D)
Day 08  Day 08: DEPARTURE
Free at own leisure till the proper time for transferring to airport for your next destination. (B)
